Ergonomics, primarily. I think it's those reaching motions that cause much of the trouble for me. The Dvorak layout keeps my fingers in a more neutral position for more time.

It does feel a lot better after a lot of typing. The big problem right now is that I've got 20 years of muscle memory and optimisations on QWERTY and only a few weeks on Dvorak.</description>

		<description>What is your motivation in learning dvorak? I can understand if you want to be able to type faster but is there any evidence it actually reduces pain, I thought it would be the opposite since you are actually making more repetitive movements (rather than reaching for keys).</description>
